Furniture Manufacturer and Retailer
The Challenge
A manufacturer of furniture with six retail stores, and a longtime client of Communications Consultants, ordered fiber and voice directly from Comcast.
Although the company went directly to Comcast and bypassed CCC, we offered to review the contract to ensure that the services Comcast sold them were compatible with the phone systems we placed in every store, factory, and corporate HQ/warehouse.
CCC’s review quickly revealed that:
- The Comcast services offered were not compatible with the phone system
- The contract as written could not provide voice services without a highly costly replacement of the exiting phone systems
- If Comcast ported the numbers away from the incumbent carrier, as planned, the entire enterprise would have had no phone service.
CCC immediately renegotiated a voice services contract that was compatible with the existing phone system at a very favorable rate. As a bonus, the new agreement provided backup internet access.
The plan that Ken developed avoided a business disaster. It resolved the voice circuit issues, reduced costs by 55%, retained an alternate independently survivable internet connection for data transfers between HQ and their six stores.
